The Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Cell of PGIMER organised a symposium on sepsis on Wednesday. The programme focused on the importance of identifying sepsis early and giving timely treatment. Its theme was “Stop Sepsis, Save Lives: Early Recognition, Timely Intervention, Better Outcomes.”
The four-hour programme was attended by around 150 nursing officers, residents and technicians from PGIMER. Experts from different departments, including Emergency and Critical Care, Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, Paediatrics, General Surgery and Microbiology, took part in the sessions.
The speakers explained how sepsis can be recognised at an early stage and why treatment should be started quickly. They also discussed the management of patients from the Emergency Room to the ICU.
Dr Pritam Panigrahi, Senior Resident in the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, spoke about the need to recognise sepsis early and provide treatment without delay.
Dr Ashish Behra from the Department of Internal Medicine discussed how sepsis patients are managed from the Emergency Room through to the ICU.
