Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the state-of-the-art Sindhu Hospital in Hyderabad, marking a major addition to the city’s healthcare infrastructure. The newly launched facility is a cancer-focused multi-super speciality quaternary care hospital designed to provide advanced treatment and medical services to patients from Hyderabad and nearby regions.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister praised the hospital management for building a modern healthcare institution that combines innovation with advanced medical technology. He stated that the project would significantly strengthen healthcare services in the region and improve access to specialised treatment facilities for patients. Modi also appreciated the hospital’s emphasis on integrating cutting-edge technology and innovation into patient care and medical operations.
The hospital has been established as a not-for-profit healthcare institution and is expected to become one of the prominent centres for cancer treatment and critical care in southern India. According to reports, the facility spreads across nearly 2.1 million square feet and includes 18 floors, 1,500 beds, over 150 consultation rooms, and 29 advanced operation theatres.
Officials said the hospital will offer comprehensive cancer treatment services including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, cancer surgeries, bone marrow transplants, and advanced critical care support. In addition to oncology services, the institution will provide treatment across more than 33 super speciality departments supported by modern diagnostic systems, laboratory facilities, and blood centres.
During his visit, Modi interacted with Dr. Bandi Parthasaradhi Reddy, Rajya Sabha member and founder-chairman of Sindhu Hospitals and the Hetero Group, along with senior doctors and hospital administrators. Medical experts briefed the Prime Minister on the hospital’s advanced technologies and healthcare capabilities.
The inauguration took place as part of the Prime Minister’s Hyderabad visit, during which he also launched and laid the foundation stones for multiple development projects worth around ₹9,400 crore in Telangana. These projects included infrastructure, industrial, logistics, and healthcare initiatives aimed at boosting economic growth and public services in the state.
Healthcare expansion has become a major focus area in Telangana, with the state government also accelerating work on several new hospitals and medical institutions. Recent announcements from the state administration indicate that thousands of additional hospital beds are expected to be added to the public healthcare system through upcoming projects.
Experts believe the launch of Sindhu Hospital could strengthen Hyderabad’s position as a leading healthcare and medical tourism hub in India. The combination of advanced infrastructure, specialised cancer treatment facilities, and high-end medical technology is expected to attract patients not only from Telangana but also from neighbouring states.
